Rosemonde Nairac

Born in 1938, she spent her childhood on the island of Mauritius and received an education in Design at the Royal College of Art in London. Her free cooperation with Rosenthal in the field of porcelain design began in 1966. Rosemonde Nairac designed a number of decorations for service sets in the Rosenthal studio-line, seven of which received awards. Her field of work has also included relief vases and decorations on giftware. Of her method for designing décor, Rosemonde Nairac says: “First you have to come to very exact terms with the form, making little drawings and sketches. Then suddenly you're jotting down ideas. The third step is working out the design in exhausting, time-consuming detail. Taking a careful and systematic approach is the only way to create harmony with the form of the object you are decorating”.
