Rosenthal studio-line

In 1961, Philip Rosenthal set the course for product development with the development of the “Rosenthal studio-line” brand. Long before design was in vogue, Rosenthal had already been working with contemporary artists, designers and architects, and amongst these were famous names such as Raymond Loewy, Walter Gropius, Tapio Wirkkala and Sebastian Herkner. To date, more than 150 artists  have designed unique collections for Rosenthal and about 500 design prizes and numerous testimonials in internationally renowned museums and galleries attest to the leading role that Rosenthal has continued to play in innovative design.

Rosenthal studio-line TAC

Purist design, based on simple geometric shapes, lends TAC 02 a timeless poetry. Delicate ornamentation and stark black and white contrasts on finest, slightly translucent porcelain emphasise the outstanding design features of this icon of Bauhaus design.

Rosenthal studio-line Suomi

The service bears the name of its homeland: Suomi – Finland. Amongst other awards, it received the highest accolade the world of porcelain can bestow: the gold medal of Faenza. When designing the compact, organic Suomi White design in 1976, the designer Timo Sarpaneva was inspired by the round, smooth pebbles found on Finland’s coasts. »Suomi« has been added to the permanent collection of the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris as an example of contemporary design.

Rosenthal studio-line Moon

Each piece of the service is reduced to a minimum of form. This purism, with its soft lines, has enormous power of persuasion – Moon White requires no big statements. The British designer Jasper Morrison (born 1959) is among the world’s foremost exponents of contemporary, puristic, functional design. He first came to the attention of the design world at the end of the 1980s with his ‘Exclamation Marks of Simplicity’. Perhaps no other contemporary designer embodies the term ‘minimalism’ more in their work than Jasper Morrison, whose creations are characterised by a deliberate, understated simplicity. His products are designed to be dependable and usable. In 1997, he created the »Moon« design for Rosenthal, which continues to be a worldwide bestseller.

Rosenthal studio-line Magic Flute

Each piece of this service of slight oriental flavour depicts a different scene from Mozart’s opera. The underside bears the relevant passage from the libretto – in Bjørn Wiinblad’s own handwriting.
