Martin Freyer

Martin Freyer (1909–1974) was a successful painter and graphic artist. His work extends from architecture to handcrafts. His most important and bestknown design is probably the VW symbol designed for the Volkswagen factory in Wolfsburg. Freyer worked for Rosenthal from 1964 until 1974.

Among his designs for the Rosenthal studio-line is the innovative series of vases »Plissée«, which to this day remains a highlight of the Rosenthal range, in terms of both design and production.
